Bio

His practice includes the representation of international and domestic developers, general contractors, construction managers, surety, and other construction professionals in the United States and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean in the preparation of contract documents, negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation of construction contract claims, construction and design defect claims, insurance claims, surety bond claims, and related matters.

Jerry’s practice and experience include mega-projects for transportation and other infrastructures and industrial, commercial, and residential engineering and construction projects. Jerry also provides training services and counseling to domestic and international clients in the areas of contract negotiation, compliance, and legal project administration/risk management. In 2021, he completed FIDIC Certified Course Module 2: Claims and Disputes Resolution.

Jerry represents and has served as project counsel during the procurement, negotiation, implementation, administration, and post-completion phases of mega-projects, using both traditional and project finance/public-private partnership delivery models.

Jerry also serves as a referee and dispute board member in international disputes involving the construction of infrastructure projects in Latin America and was engaged to develop, implement, and administer a program of dispute boards for world sporting events in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016.

Jerry is admitted to practice in the State of Florida and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida. He is a member of the Florida Bar, the Dade County Bar, and a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers.  He serves as Secretary of Region 4 – Latin America of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation and has served as Chair of the International Division of the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law. He received his Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Lehigh University and his law degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Miami.

Su práctica incluye la representación de contratantes, contratistas generales, administradores de obra, afianzadoras y otros profesionales de la construcción, nacionales e internacionales, en Estados Unidos, en Latinoamérica y en el Caribe, en la preparación de documentos contractuales, negociación, mediación, arbitraje y litigio de reclamaciones de contratos de construcción, reclamaciones por defectos y vicios de construcción y diseño, reclamaciones de seguros, reclamaciones contra fianzas y otros asuntos relacionados.

La práctica y experiencia de Jerry incluye megaproyectos de transporte y otras infraestructuras, así como proyectos de ingeniería y construcción industrial, comercial y residencial. Jerry también brinda servicios de formación y asesoramiento a clientes nacionales e internacionales en las áreas de negociación de contratos, cumplimiento y administración legal de proyectos/gestión de riesgos. En 2021, completó el Módulo 2 del Curso Certificado FIDIC: Reclamaciones y Resolución de Disputas.

Jerry representa y ha servido como asesor de proyectos durante las fases de adquisición, negociación, implementación, administración y post-entrega de megaproyectos, utilizando modelos de entrega tanto tradicionales como de financiación de proyectos / asociación público-privada.

Jerry también actúa como árbitro y miembro de juntas de resolución de disputas en asuntos internacionales relacionados con la construcción de proyectos de infraestructura en América Latina y fue contratado para desarrollar, implementar y administrar el programa de juntas de resolución de disputas para los eventos deportivos mundiales en Río de Janeiro, Brasil en 2016.

Jerry está habilitado para ejercer en los tribunales federales y estatales del Estado de Florida. Es miembro del Colegio de Abogados de Florida, del Colegio de Abogados del Condado de Dade y del American College of Construction Lawyers.  Es Secretario de la Región 4 – Latinoamérica de la Dispute Resolution Board Foundation y ha sido Presidente de la División Internacional del American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law .  Tiene un bachillerato en ciencias en Ingeniería Industrial de Lehigh University y en un doctorado en derecho, summa cum laude, de la University of Miami.
