Richard R. Volack, Partner in Peckar & Abramson’s New York office, will speak at the Associated General Contractor’s upcoming AGC IT Conference. Mr. Volack’s breakout session is titled “Play the Offense: Contractor’s Guide to Winning the Cyber-security War.” This session will discuss the following topics: (i) how the wide range of information on a contractor’s systems is, indeed, very valuable to the hacker (this includes both the personal and financial information of the contractor’s employees, financial and strategic information concerning the contractor’s overall organization, to classified plans and specifications for the construction of certain strategic and military projects; (ii) how the hackers can get into the contractor’s systems and what they do when they breach the fire walls; (iii) the duties to disclose a potential breach, and (iv) basic risk management strategies and tools contractors can use to attempt to address hacking. Mr. Volack’s session will take place on Thursday, August 8 from 1:40 pm to 2:40 pm. The AGC IT Conference will take place August 7 – 9 at the Sheraton Grand Chicago in Chicago, IL.
