RegisterMelissa Salsano, Associate in the firm’s New York office, will speak at the Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE SJ Branch and Forensics Group of ASCE SJ Branch joint seminar titled, “Forensic Case Study and Arbitration for Hoover Dam Bridge,” on October 25, 2018 at Rowan University Campus, Technology Park in Glassboro, New Jersey. During construction of the Hoover Dam Bridge in 2006, a leased cableway system utilized to carry precast materials over the Colorado River, collapsed into the River during fast 50-mile per hour winds. The failure caused construction to come to a standstill delaying the project by two years. During this program, Ms. Salsano will explore the various claims made in the resulting arbitration proceedings, the determination by the arbitrators as well as the methods that design-build parties may utilize in calculating delay and huge cost claims resulting from structural failures during construction.
