RegisterOlesya Sidorkina, Associate and Christopher Sweeney, Senior Counsel, both in the firm’s Washington, DC office, will speak at the Washington Building Congress (WBC) Mechanic’s Lien Law Seminar on February 22, 2019 at the WBC Conference Room. The program will cover tips and strategies to maximize potential benefit of mechanic’s liens, both for GCs and subs/suppliers. The requirements and benefits of mechanic’s liens vary within the three neighboring jurisdictions (DC, MD, VA) and understanding these differences is critical for contractors in the Metro Washington region. The discussion will not just cover the nuts and bolts of preserving rights and filing mechanic’s liens, but also, most importantly, the potential risks and rewards of initiating and obtaining mechanic’s liens on jobs where you haven’t been paid as well as the interplay between the various contract documents and mechanic’s liens, specifically indemnification and bonding off obligations.
