CURTIS W. MARTIN RIDES AGAIN – IN THE BP MS 150 BICYCLE RIDE FROM HOUSTON TO AUSTIN
Published Date: May 17, 2018
Curtis W. Martin, Co-Managing Partner of the firm’s Texas offices, participated for the 15th year in the BP Multiple Sclerosis (MS) 150. The annual 170-mile bicycle ride from Houston to Austin, Texas took place on April 28-29, 2018. Martin, who has raised more than $17,500 so far this year for MS, has ridden the event since 2001. The ride has become the largest event of its kind in North America.
Martin also served as Ride Marshal, helping other riders by changing flat tires along the route and ensuring others rode safely and comfortably. Ride Marshals, who also ride the route themselves, serve as safety ambassadors and provide special assistance as needed.
With approximately 400 teams riding in 2018, the event seeks to raise $14 million to support MS patients and their families and fund needed research into therapies for those living with MS. In November, 2016, Martin was inducted into the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s “Fundraising Hall of Fame” in recognition of his efforts over the last 17 years riding in the BP MS 150. Curt has been one of the event’s top 300 fund raisers since 2008 raising more than $140,000 for this worthy charity.
