Gregory R. Begg, a partner in the firm’s New Jersey office, along with Alexander Saunders, a senior associate in the firm’s New Jersey office, authored an article in the December 2016 issue of Utility and Transportation Contractor magazine. The article titled, “Comply with New Labor Regulations by December 1st or Risk Wage Claims” discusses the U.S. Department of Labor’s new rules that took effect on December 1, 2016 and double the minimum salary threshold to qualify for overtime exemption under the Fair Labor Standards Act. According to the new rules, failure to comply with the new requirements will expose employers to claims for unpaid overtime, attorney’s fees and liquidated damages by all underpaid workers.
