Peckar & Abramson mourns the loss of Roger S. Markowitz, retired Partner, who passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 81.

Roger joined P&A as a partner in January of 1998 and continued to practice with us through his retirement at the beginning of 2024. Roger was a highly respected construction lawyer, especially among the New York civil construction community, working mostly out of our New Jersey and New York offices. He was the first to join P&A from Berman Paley, one of the preeminent construction law practices in New York City at the time.  Several years later, nearly all of Berman Paley’s attorneys followed Roger.

In addition to being an outstanding construction lawyer, through Roger’s many interests, intellect, and personality, he became more than a colleague. He was a friend and teammate of many at P&A, especially in New York and New Jersey.

Long before Roger retired, he had relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. For years, Roger had talked about slowing down, repeatedly choosing to defer steps toward complete retirement as he continued to contribute with his trademark intensity and focus, even after relocating.

Roger had a deep affection for his family and is survived by his wife Maria and their two daughters, Tina and Lauren. The P&A family extends its thoughts, prayers and condolences.
