Jerry Brodsky Quoted in Article on China’s Investments in Latin America
Published Date: January 9, 2017
Jerry P. Brodsky, a partner in the firm’s Miami office and Director of the Latin American practice group, was quoted as a source in a story entitled “China Seizes Opportunities in Latin America” that was published in The Daily Business Review, American Lawyer and Law.com on January 4, 2017. The story details China’s upcoming investment in Latin America, which is described as massive, ambitious and potentially shifting the balance in trade investment in the region. Mr. Brodsky comments on China’s capacity and their willingness to provide infrastructure in many countries throughout the region. Examples include plans for a $10 billion, 3,300-mile-long transcontinental railroad snaking through the jungles of the Amazon river basin and over the highest mountain range in Latin America, linking the Atlantic shore to the Pacific; as well as talk of a $50 billion supersized canal carving a 161-mile-long swath across Nicaragua, offering passage to the mega tankers of tomorrow and overwhelming even the newly expanded Panama Canal to its south.
