Peckar & Abramson’s Miami Attorneys Speak at Advanced Construction Law Course

Gary M. Stein, Melinda S. Gentile and Monique S. Cardenas will be speaking at the 2017 Advanced Construction Law Certification Review Course on March 16-18, 2017 at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes.
Mr. Stein will be speaking at a plenary session on Friday, March 17th on the topic of “Suretyship: Florida Statute 255.05, Miller Act, and Other Bonds”. The plenary session will discuss the different types of surety bonds, including performance bonds, payment, bonds and bid bonds in Florida. Mr. Stein will focus his discussion on a general overview of the surety law and a more detailed discussion of the current law on surety bonds.
Ms. Gentile and Ms. Cardenas will be speaking at a plenary session on Friday, March 17th titled “Ethics”. During this ethics-centered seminar, issues specific to the practice of construction law are explored and the Ethical Standards of Conduct proscribed by the Florida Bar are applied. Practice pointers relative to attorney competence, client-lawyer relationship, conflict of interest, prohibited transactions, conducting business transactions with clients, settlement of claims, proper scope of advocacy, duties to prospective clients, advertising limitations and the unlicensed practice of law are specifically analyzed. Ms. Gentile serves at the Program Vice Chair, Miami.
