Thomas J. Curran Participates in Litigation Roundtable
Published Date: October 14, 2017
Peckar & Abramson is pleased to announce that Thomas J. Curran, partner in the firm’s New York office and Chair of the Firm’s White Collar Criminal Practice Group, will speak on a panel at the American Bar Association’s upcoming Section of Litigation Roundtable entitled “Construction Fraud: Hot Topics and Prevention Strategies.” The multiple parties, diffuse responsibilities, and numerous cost inputs associated with construction projects can create a ripe environment for fraud. In this time of increased focus on government spending, internal efforts to detect and minimize the risk of fraud are more important than ever. The panelists will identify common fraud schemes and key laws used by the government in this space, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the False Claims Act, and bribery/graft laws. They will also discuss key considerations for creating and maintaining a culture of compliance. The ABA’s Section of Litigation Roundtable discussion will take place on April 25, 2017 from 2:00pm – 3:00pm.
